Who is Jefferson Smith

Born in three different communities scattered across Canada, I’ve spent the last 60 years studying and practicing three different passions: computer programming, creativity theory, and a variety of artistic fields, including music composition, writing, animation, and cartooning. Some of these were studied formally, and others more casually, but in all these mediums, I’m intrigued by the structures and rules that I uncover as I dig into them.

What is Creativity Hacker?

My process is a bit chaotic. I like to have lots of projects on the go at any one time and then flit between them on the winds of whim. (That may sound like the very definition of ADHD, but I’ve never been diagnosed so you can’t prove nuthin’. :-)

My goal with the site is to organize my thinking about these projects and to share any ideas and discoveries I make along the way, even if the projects themselves sometimes don’t reach completion. This will include tips and tricks that I find helpful, as well as an exploration of tools and techniques that I think help with the creative process. It will even include some software tools I develop for my own use.

Since there are as many approaches to the arts as there are artists, I can’t promise that every idea will be of use, but I hope that in time (and with input from others via comment conversations) we’ll build up a library of creative resources that will include something of use for everybody. But if not, we can at least have fun failing to do so.
